Home as a true Haven

Written by christine on Friday, June 29th, 2007 in General.

When my mom and I first started looking for a house in 2000, we saw quite a few that were just not right.  When we first looked at the one we purchased (only months before real estate started going sky high here), I could feel it had once been truly loved.  It is a two unit house that was then occupied upstairs by a woman who thought garbage was disposed of by throwing it off the back deck and empty bottles got stored on that deck.  The downstairs was apparently occupied by two men who did some drug dealing.  It was however, a great house.  Three bedrooms and two baths upstairs, two bedrooms and one bath downstairs.  Under the condition that all tenants were to be moved out and all the junk in the store-rooms, decks and yard was to be removed by closing, we bought it.  When we moved in, it not only needed cleaning on the physical level, but on the spiritual as well.  It was bought “as is”, we could not have afforded it otherwise.  The “spiritual” cleansing worked incredibly well.  The vibrations and energy of the house have been completely shifted and it is back to being the well loved house it started out as.  It’s been amazing how many people have stopped while passing by just to tell me how different it looked and felt.  People who know the house have come in and actually asked what I did that it felt so different.  All the local cats come and hang out on the property, a family of racoons hangs out at night and coexist with our two outdoor cats with no fighting or confrontations.  We also have a family of wood peckers that are incredibly fun to watch and lots of noisy and pesky mountain jays.  We have humming bird feeders and get lots of the little guys using them.  We used to have lots of squirrels, but the arrival of a bob cat in the immediate area seems to have to chased them off.  Bob cats don’t go near people, but they do seem to consider very small dogs to be a delicacy.  I don’t think little dogs should be out at night by themselves anyway.  It seems lots of animals feel safe around our house.  We do discourage the deer with a harmless stinky spray………if we didn’t, we’d never have flowers for more than day.  What’s really nice is that I feel happy, peaceful and protected here.  It’s even nicer that any guests I have feel the same way.  I enforce the spiritual protection around the house regularly and use it, as well as the redwoods around it, as a place to pray.  Bless your home, create a light of protection around it, it works.

Laryngitis and blind kittens

Written by christine on Tuesday, June 26th, 2007 in General.

I not only have to be able to talk to do my work, I love to talk.  Having laryngitis for almost a week was not fun.  I couldn’t even give my dog commands for that time.  I kept quiet, drank not very tasty tea, made lemon juice with honey and really missed my work.  My psychic abilities were working just fine, I just couldn’t share my insights.  I was thrilled when my voice returned.  My screeching cat is finally quiet, she was spayed last week.  Cats are funny, they punish you…..you want to think it’s that they got scared, they’re not sure if they should trust you any more…….I’m telling you, they punish you.  So, Miss Thing would not let me anywhere near her for 24 hours, this does make it hard to check the incision (no rough housing allowed, so you can’t chase them until you catch them).  Of course, I never keep my life simple.  Three days after her trauma, I brought in another cat.  Some neighbors had asked me if I knew anyone that would be willing to adopt a blind kitten.  When I saw the little scrap of fur, it was obvious finding a home would be difficult.  The eyes were closed and obviously infected.  A friend helped with vet’s costs and I took her for fostering.  Of course, I’m keeping her.  It took her all of five hours to get to the water bowl on her own and less than 48 to go to the pan by herself.  She had never been pan trained and had been living in a front yard.  She’s loving, playful and just plain happy.  Except for being completely blind, she’s totally healthy.  One of the many funny things with cats, they pick you.  I don’t care if they’re 8 weeks old or aldut, they pick you, you don’t pick them.  From the first time I saw that kitten, she followed the sound of my voice, even when several people were talking.  I’m the only person she’ll sleep on……you get the picture.

General musings on the past week

Written by christine on Tuesday, June 12th, 2007 in General.

Slowly, I’m catching up to a few things.  Miss Thing, my youngest cat has an appointment with the mobil vet on June 19th.  She is being neutered.  Unfortunately, our local vet is not someone I would trust to perform surgery on any of my furry kids.  A lot of us feel that way. The Humane Society of my county has top notch vets, it’s also 30 minutes away and I’d have to go there twice in one day.  I am so grateful they’re bringing the vets to me.  I’ll have 2 one minute drives, Miss Thing has never travelled.  She was born in my house and has not been out of it in her life.  She transfered from my room-mate’s room to my portion of the house (actually she transfered herself).  I don’t need to be psychic to know this is going to be one noisy ride.  My pocket garden is just about finished and I really like the way it looks.  I finally learned how to take proper care of roses and my favorite bush has twenty buds on it.  Yes, I check it daily…. I found miniature sun flowers that branch… I check them daily also and they do seem to take forever to open.  I have also been working on fixing my deck.  At this point, I seem to get more muscle aches gardening and working on the deck than I do weight lifting.  Last week, I enjoyed my work even more than usual.  I got great feed-back from clients I had not read in a while and read some incredibly interesting and nice people.  On top of that, all the readings felt easy to do.  I seemed to have more than the usual number of “I had no idea what I was talking about, but the client did” readings.  I have learned that I’m not the one who needs to understand the reading, so I just give what I get.   Until next time….
